ARE YOU READY FOR A RARE EXPERIENCE?
Who We Serve
At RARE Academy, we are dedicated to uplifting and empowering individuals, organizations, and communities navigating the complex realities of reentry and systemic inequities. Our work recognizes that justice involvement does not occur in isolation—it is shaped by interconnected systems such as housing, healthcare, employment, education, and family. Through the RARE Experience: Systems Simulation, peer support, and cross-sector partnerships, we help those we serve understand these systems and work together to dismantle barriers.
Justice-Impacted Individuals
We prioritize supporting people directly impacted by incarceration as they reenter society. From navigating vital records to overcoming barriers in housing, employment, and healthcare, we provide resources, peer support, and leadership development opportunities that strengthen resilience and create pathways for long-term success.
Nonprofits and Community Organizations
We partner with nonprofits and grassroots groups seeking to enhance their services for justice-impacted populations. Through co-designed training, systems simulations, and capacity-building strategies, we equip organizations with tools to deepen impact, amplify lived experience, and expand equity-centered practices.
Government Agencies
We collaborate with local and state government agencies to develop effective reentry and diversion programs that promote restorative justice and address systemic inequities. By offering educational simulations, peer-led insights, and policy-focused training, we help agencies shift practices toward approaches that are both human-centered and sustainable.
Businesses and Employers
We work with employers to create second-chance hiring pipelines and build inclusive workplaces. By using the Systems Simulation as a training tool and providing guidance on employer incentives (such as fidelity bonding and tax credits), we help businesses recognize the value of justice-impacted employees and align hiring practices with equity goals.
Veterans Transitioning to Civilian Life
Recognizing the unique challenges veterans face when transitioning back to civilian life, we extend our services to support them in accessing resources, strengthening community ties, and overcoming employment and housing barriers. Our peer support model ensures veterans have guidance from those who understand both transition and systemic obstacles.
Leaders, Trainers, and Change-Makers
We serve those responsible for training and influencing others — from employers developing staff, to nonprofits preparing volunteers, to funders, stakeholders, and decision-makers shaping policies and investments. The Systems Simulation is a powerful tool for building shared understanding, aligning teams, and equipping leaders with the insight to advance equity. Whether you are training employees, mobilizing a board, or engaging a coalition, we provide an interactive learning experience that translates awareness into action.
